Mar 26, 2022

Lately, people all over the world are queuing like crazy for one thing!

The scene is even more intense than the discounted promotion days such as Black Friday and Boxing day.

Some people line up outside the mall in the middle of the night just to buy it!

What is it that is so attractive that it captivates shoppers around the world?

It turned out to be a joint watch of Swatch and Omega!

In Australia, hundreds of shoppers have queued for hours outside watch stores across the country to get their hands on a new and sought-after watch.

Queues began to form outside the Swatch shopping centre in Chadstone, Melbourne, at 6.30am on Saturday as shoppers tried to snag the new MoonSwatch.

A passerby filmed shoppers huddled outside the closed doors, eagerly waiting for the store to open at 9 a.m. two and a half hours later.

A similar scene played out in Sydney, where hundreds of shoppers even started camping outside Pitt Street Mall in the middle of the night.

The launch of MoonSwatch sparked a shopping spree - a long-awaited collaboration between swatch and omega.

Some netizens said that they are very happy to enter the store to buy this watch, but it will take some stamina to pass the queue.

The reason why it is so popular is mainly because the price of the joint name is very cheap!

At just AU$380, this watch is a cheaper version of Omega's classic Speedmaster Moonwatch, knowing that an omega watch costs over AU$10,000.

Shoppers in Melbourne have been photographed resting on the floor or in camp chairs, exhausted by long wait times.

The line snaked down from the front of the store, stretched hundreds of meters along one side of the mall, and then turned to the other side.

"What's social distancing?? Looks like these people really want this new watch. The swatch store may have up to five customers. It's going to be a fun day."

Another social media user took to Instagram to complain about the long queues ruining her birthday plans.

"I guess I won't be buying this watch for my birthday," she wrote.

The collaboration between Swatch and Omega has been fueling speculation for months ahead of the confirmation that MoonSwatch will launch on March 26.

There are 11 watches in the collection and are only available in a few Swatch stores around the world.

Each watch is space-themed, named after a planet or moon.

"Mission to Mars," "Mission to Mercury," and "Mission to Uranus" are different names.

The watches are designed so that the colors and layout reflect the planets for which they are named.
