Chanel watch making began in 1987 with the release of the first Première watch, designed by Jacques Helleu, inspired by the shape of the Place Vendôme and the legendary Chanel N°5 perfume bottle. In the same year Chanel opened its first shop devoted uniquely to watches, located at 40 Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Other Chanel watch shops would follow.
The famous J12 appeared in 2000. It was Chanel’s first sports watch. It was an entirely ceramic watch designed for both men and women. In 2001 a special diamond encrusted version was produced. Chanel still continues to produce its landmark pieces in classic, jewellery and ‘grande complication’ versions.
Chanel watches are restrained and elegant and follow the codes of the brand and the spirit of the company’s founder, Coco Chanel.
Most CHANEL watch self-winding movements can be wound properly by most watch winders. Usually CHANEL's self-winding movements need to rotate 650 - 800 revolutions per day, and most of them can be wound clockwise. So please take some time and like to choose a cute clockwork that suits you and your watch.
Definitions:
- 《CW》 - Clockwise winding direction;
- 《CCW》 - Counterclockwise winding direction;
- 《Both》 - Combined mode (Clockwise + Counterclockwise);

If you could not find your watch model (or caliber) in this table, you may determine your CHANEL winding mode on a trial basis. You should select the combined winding mode (CW+CCW) and the minimal number of turns per day (TPD). Then place your watch into the watch winder and check after a few days how accurate your watch shows the time. If it runs behind, it is necessary to increase the number of TPD by one step.
