How to set watch winder for BMW

May 9, 2021

The BMW collection, which consists of simple three-handers and chronographs (all quartz), have simple and considerate designs. The consistent colorway binds the range together. The majority feature the BMW logo itself, while some (like the model below) drop it from the dial completely in favor of the M-Series logo.

The BMW M Motorsport watches are more expressive, with larger and more stylish cases. They also have sportier dial designs, particularly the three-handed watches that have a trapezoidal aperture around the date at 6 o’clock that is reminiscent of the instrument panels of some M-badged cars.

Most BMW watch self-winding movements can be wound properly by most watch winders. Usually BMW's self-winding movements need to rotate 650 - 800 revolutions per day, and most of them can be wound clockwise. So please take some time and like to choose a cute clockwork that suits you and your watch.

Definitions:

  • 《CW》 - Clockwise winding direction;
  • 《CCW》 - Counterclockwise winding direction;
  • 《Both》 - Combined mode (Clockwise + Counterclockwise);
  • 《–》 - Undefined;

If you could not find your watch model (or caliber) in this table, you may determine your BMW winding mode on a trial basis. You should select the combined winding mode (CW+CCW) and the minimal number of turns per day (TPD). Then place your watch into the watch winder and check after a few days how accurate your watch shows the time. If it runs behind, it is necessary to increase the number of TPD by one step.
