On November 9, 2010, Breguet obtained the patent for the Magnetic Pivot balance wheel system, so let's talk about the power of magnetic levitation.

The magnetic pivot consists of a balance shaft made of carbon steel and a rare earth magnet behind each support stone. When one magnet is stronger than the other, the magnetic pivot is held in constant contact with the dial-side support. Since the attraction between the axle and the rock is stronger than the force of gravity, the axle can be returned to its original position by the rock, no matter where the watch is located. This system also shoulders the heavy responsibility of anti-vibration devices. When the watch is hit and the pivot position deviates, the magnetic field of the two magnets can pull the pivot back to its original position, restoring the maximum magnetic flow. Traditionally, the upper and lower sets of gemstone bearings and shock absorbers are used to support the balance shaft. Breguet proposed a better solution: install miniature powerful magnets on the gemstone bearings at both ends, and the magnetic force at one end near the dial is stronger than the other. One end is stronger, and the balance shaft is permanently attached to the stronger bearing with a very small contact area, while the other end of the balance shaft does not contact the bearing, but is only attracted by the magnetic force, so the friction force is extremely small. Under the control of magnetic force, the balance shaft can move in a limited range, and when it is displaced by vibration, it can instantly return to the original position, in other words, the shock absorption effect is better. Simply put, the use of magnetic levitation makes the balance wheel system "suspend". The advantage is that the balance wheel shaft can operate more smoothly and reduce the impact of vibration. At the same time, the contact surface between the wheel shaft and the bearing is also greatly reduced, which reduces the loss caused by friction. . Moreover, Breguet Ref.7727 has a high frequency of 10Hz, which is particularly important to reduce friction and save kinetic energy. Magnetic levitation also greatly reduces friction and saves kinetic energy. .
