Breguet launches limited edition XXI 3815 titanium chronograph

Dec 12, 2021

When discussing history and classic watchmakers, few brands can come to mind as easily as Breguet. Breguet is older than the United States and full of innovation, including the first tourbillon in 1801. Over the centuries, Breguet has established a special luxury watch in the classical Baroque style. Even the brand's sports products are often inspired by tradition and classic decorations, including the XXI chronograph series, based on the pilot chronograph design first made for the French Air Force in the 1950s. With this in mind, the return of Breguet's new limited edition to the Type XXI series is a rare modernist move for this historical brand. The new limited edition Breguet XXI 3815 watch adopts a titanium case and a brightly colored luminous watch, which cleverly combines retro and modern aesthetics, and interprets Breguet style with bold modern style.

Breguet XXI 3815

The overall shape of the Breguet XXI 3815 42mm case may be familiar to fans of the brand. Breguet’s iconic grooved central case and long sports lugs and piston pushers, but the brand’s current design Major adjustments have been made. Most notably, the case is made of titanium. Although Breguet rarely provided details of the titanium alloy used here, the original image pointed to a lighter hue that almost mimicked the appearance of stainless steel. Breguet also went to great lengths to maintain the fusion of brushed and polished surfaces, which helped define the XXI stainless steel, which in itself is no easy task, because titanium is significantly more difficult to mirror polish. The second major change of the XXI 3815 case is its rotating bezel. Instead of the overall brushed appearance of the stainless steel model, it is replaced by a polished bas-relief 60-minute scale and filled with dark black paint. The orange or lemon green color at 12 o'clock completes the appearance of the dial. Breguet used a sapphire display case back to display the movement, and rated the XXI 3815 model with a sports water resistance of 100 meters.

The most notable difference between the Breguet XXI 3815 dial and the previous XXI models is the transition from a three-register to a two-register chronograph layout. In addition, the use of bold and modern colors makes the dial eye-catching. The ornate Arabic numerals, sword-shaped hands, 3 o'clock 24-hour scale and the tip of the central chronograph minute hand are filled with verdant grass green or deep Orange. The latter color is the bolder of the two colors in the original image. Breguet highlights these bright colors with a subtle black sunburst dial. The dial also adopts the classic "big eyes" shape. The 24-hour sub-dial is obviously larger than the seconds dial at 9 o'clock. This charming asymmetric touch is a common touch of pilot chronographs in the middle of this century, which naturally draws the attention to The most important information, a leaf-shaped pointer with luminous function indicates the time of day and night. This makes the flyback timer function only installed in the center, so the total measuring length of the chronograph is 60 minutes, which is caused by it being a two-register chronograph. But for some buyers, the compact appearance of the two-register chronograph may be worth reducing the corresponding functions. Another potentially destructive element is the trapezoidal date window at 6 o'clock, which causes the 6 o'clock digits to be completely lost.

Breguet uses its self-produced Calibre 584Q/A automatic flyback chronograph movement to power the XXI 3815 watch. The Calibre 584Q/A movement is decorated with Côtes de Genève across the splint, the pearl pattern of the movement splint, and the unique flowing hand-stitched pattern across the platinum oscillating weight, which is very attractive and powerful. Calibre 584Q/A is equipped with fully modern components, including a silicon balance spring and a reverse coaxial silicon Swiss lever escapement, which can be adjusted in six positions and provides a 48-hour power reserve at a beat rate of 28,800 bph. Breguet’s distressed calfskin strap with tan or dark smoky brown stitching complements the XXI 3815 watch.

The Breguet XXI 3815 limited edition watch adopts a new layout, new materials and eye-catching modern style, which stands out among the other products of the brand, combining classic and modern aesthetics perfectly.

Of course, a good watch needs a watch winder to match it. We recommend to you the newly developed Black Warrior series smart watch winder. The perfect integration of technology and traditional classics is the best choice for your favorite watch.
